Epic Guardian is an annual U.S. Africa Command-executed, Command-Post Exercise and Field Training Exercise designed to strengthen the ability of partner nations in the region to provide security and stability, and effectively identify and respond to crisis events.
Approximately 100 U.S. service members will participate in a Field Training Exercise taking place in the vicinity of Gaborone, Botswana in September 2022. The United States routinely participates in exercises with our African partners to build enduring relationships and combine capacity in the mutual interest of regional security challenges. This exercise highlights the strong partnership between the U.S. Embassy in Botswana and the Botswana Defence Force.
